Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) lauds OIam for Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (Stand Alone) 2016.

Olam was highly commended as Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (Stand Alone) for our 2015 report. Srivathsan V, CEO and Managing Director Africa and Middle East collected the plaque at a gala dinner and Award Ceremony held recently at the British High Commission in Singapore. Given we were up against 17 other companies in the category, being Highly Commended was a strong achievement.

We also notched a finalist position in the top award category – Asia’s Sustainability Reporting of the Year Award 2016.

Nikki Barber, General Manager of Group Public Relations at Olam, said: “Olam has many different stakeholders from shareholders to customers to NGOs and employees. Some stakeholders require lots of detail, so we launched the ‘deep-dive’ version of the report on the website (also available as a pdf).  Others just want an overview so we produced the Executive Summary.  We made sure the information was accessible yet shining a real light onto the challenges we face. We were also honest about our progress, not shying from difficult questions. Of course, it’s the efforts of the Product, Country and Function teams, especially Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S) that underpins our sustainability reporting each year so everyone should feel proud. We are now turning our attention to the 2016 report as we continue on our journey of achieving end-to-end sustainable supply chains by 2020.”

The Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) recognise and honour sustainability reporting leaders in Asia. The Awards celebrate best practices in sustainability reporting, transparency and communications. The winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. The ASRA are offered in 14 categories including Asia’s Best Sustainability Report, Asia’s Best Integrated Report, Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (SME) and Asia’s Best Carbon Disclosure.
