The African Coffee Outlook Forum, held at the Safari Park Hotel and Casino, Nairobi, Kenya on the 15th and 16th September 2015, bought together key regional industry leaders with a focus on policy, investment, trade, sustainability and business development. Co-hosted by the Coffee Directorate of the Fisheries and Food Authority of Kenya (AFFA), this event saw the support of many top African coffee exporters and producer associations.

With Olam International being a leading agribusiness within Africa, Mr Deepak Kaul, Senior Vice President for Coffee, was invited to speak on the topic of ‘Adding Value to the African Coffee Grower from A Trader’s Perspective’. He joined a panel of coffee traders, including Kailash Natani, MD for Ugacof (U) Ltd and David Barry the MD of Kyagalanyi Coffee Limited, to discuss Intra Africa Trade and the potential new markets that are arising to African exporters later in the day.

As part of his presentations Deepak showed how the Olam Livelihood Charter (OLC) has improved the lives of over 280,000 farmers within eight countries on this continent, through principles such as interest-free finance and improved market access.
