We have put in place strategic sustainability initiatives, particularly in reducing our energy and water use and solid waste generation, to promote sustainable agriculture and reduce our overall carbon footprint.
We are also participating in both federal and local energy audits across our global operations to help us identify and act on energy-reduction opportunities. For example, a lighting project was recently approved, one that will reduce our energy usage by nearly 700 kilowatt hours annually while improving lighting in our warehousing and processing areas.
Ultimately, we will drive new ideas to meet all our sustainability initiatives, using both federal and local agency resources, and developing partnerships with global universities and trade and research associations. We will also leverage our water reduction capabilities in place at our onion and garlic facilities across our businesses, and jointly pursue complementary agricultural efficiencies through our tomato and other vegetable agriculture teams.
