Olam originates grain in both Australia and in the Black Sea region. In Australia, we operate through our wholly-owned subsidiary, Queensland Cotton, and obtain our grain directly from growers. These are traded from our Melbourne office and sold to various Asian and Pacific destinations.
The Melbourne office also houses our Pacific freight desk. In the Black Sea region, we originate grain directly from Russian growers, selling to Mediterranean markets like Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Italy and Greece. Black Sea Wheat in particular, is traded out of our Geneva and Singapore offices to Asian markets. We also originate wheat, maize and other grains in India, primarily for their domestic market and participate in a limited way in trading domestic cash markets in the USA.
Today, encouraged by our success in Russia, we are extending our origination footprint into the Ukraine. We also continue to be vigilant to strategic investment opportunities in port-based elevation assets, both in Australia and the Black Sea region.
