Olam is always keen to improve the quality of the products we supply, and the overall conditions of the people who supply these products to us.
To ensure that our farmers get the best returns from their limited land and labour, we have been running model farms as vocational training centres across several origins. For example, our model farm in Nigeria coupled with a ‘training of trainer’ initiative, has been instrumental in doubling the on-farm yield there over the last 5 years. We also directly support farmer productivity gains through an improved seed distribution initiative, producing farmer instruction handbooks (in the local language) that highlight pre and post-harvest techniques so that quality is enhanced and both farmers and end-users are better off.
