Olam’s presence in Central America started in 2006, with our decision to establish coffee origination and export businesses in some of the region’s key Mild Arabica-producing countries, starting with Honduras, where we are today one of the leading players in the market.
Our Central American coffee business has grown rapidly in the last few years boosted by our entry into Guatemala. Today, Olam operates multiple buying units and processing plants and markets high-quality coffee to our clients in the USA, Europe and Asia.
Our Central America presence also includes wood product operations in Costa Rica and Panama, where we are one of the top exporters of teak. Overall, we have more than 80 permanent employees in the region.
We continue to be vigilant to other opportunities in Central America, through which we can extend our business and product scope.
